House 7

A two-house identity for a Cardiff-based production studio — Films and Creative — built so each side can shout on its own and still read as one collective. Brand system, web, and out-of-home applications.

Product

House 7 are a Cardiff production studio with two distinct sides: Films (long-form, broadcast, factual) and Creative (digital channels, short-form, branded content). The brief was an identity that could carry both without either side feeling like the smaller sibling — and a website that let the work lead.

What we delivered: the 'House Palette' (Midnight, Glow, Fire, Just Purple, Lavender) with explicit pairing rules, a split logo system (Films vs. Creative), a 'collective' lockup for when the two need to speak as one, and a multi-surface site spanning Films, Creative, Channels and Work.

Process

The split was the unlock. Once we'd agreed Films wears Midnight + Glow and Creative wears Fire + Glow, every other decision — typography weight, layout density, motion register — fell into place. We kept the mark constant across both so the collective view still reads as one studio.

Web followed the same logic. The Films surface leans cinematic and quiet; the Creative surface leans louder, denser, more channel-led. Channels (YouTube and beyond) got its own page so the studio can showcase owned formats ahead of a 2026 launch slate.

Learning

The 'collective' rule — drop co-branding when speaking as House 7, keep things to Midnight, Fire and Just White — is the bit clients always want to break. Holding the line on it is what makes the brand legible at scale. The applications (bus stops, billboards, posters) earned their place because they proved the system survives outside the deck.

Working with the client

Mid-build, we annotated screens directly with the House 7 team — calling out hierarchy, copy, and what each module needed to do. This is the Channels page in flight: green ticks where we'd landed it, red notes where we hadn't.
